Partner dancing is a wonderful experience. But, as you begin to build confidence those early weeks can also be difficult at times.
We encourage you to be patient, relax and enjoy the process. It can feel that there’s a lot to remember however if you can pick-up these dance basics and regularly attend our classes the moves and style will follow.
Keep the distance between your feet to natural shoulder-width.
Walk the moves naturally rather than punctuating a step.
Try not to look at your feet — focus on your partner.
Keep it simple—Practice dancing a combination/sequence of basic (beginners) moves whilst keeping ‘in-time’ to a slow 8 beat count.
As you keep to the rhythm — relax.
Don’t bounce up & down or ‘pump’ with the hands to help you keep the rhythm.
When stepping forwards or backwards, step and move/sway your hips in the travelling direction.
Do, flex the knee joints, lightly to rock-step and move or sway your hips in the travelling direction
